Educational activities at the faculty are carried out by educational-professional and educational-scientific programs at the first (bachelor’s) level, second (master’s) and third (educational-scientific) level by specialties:First (bachelor’s) level:035 philology, specializations:

  • Roman-Germanic languages and literature ( including translation);
  • Slavic languages and literature( including translation);
  • 054 sociology;
  • 071 accounting and taxation;
  • 072 finance, banking and insurance;
  • 073 management

Second (master’s) level:

The faculty employs highly qualified and experienced specialists, including 7 doctors of sciences, three honored workers of the higher school of Ukraine, 35 candidates of sciences, associate professors.
Due to the existing integration links, higher education graduates, after graduating from university, work at leading enterprises in various industries and forms of ownership, banking institutions, local governments, tax inspection, insurance companies, higher education institutions of different accreditation levels, social protection centers and public receptions.

In 1991 according to the time demands and market changes the domain committee on a speciality “Economics and Management in Engineering” was founded. The head of the committee was assigned the Associate Professor, Candidate of Economics N.G. Revenko. And in September 1992 the Mechanical Faculty in Dneprodzerzhinsk Order of Labor Red Banner of the Industrial Institute named after M.I. Arsenichev made the first set of students in specialty “Engineering Economics”. This event was the base for the emergence of a new faculty of economics.

In 1993 the first graduate economic department of Economics and Management in Engineering led by N.G. Revenko, the Associate Professor, Candidate of Economics was founded. This department was created for the mastering of a new specialty (for technical university) “Management in the Manufacturing”. In 1995 this department formed to the department of Economics and Industrial Engineering. In this way the Department of Economics, Management and Marketing is founding.

In 2004 at the Department of Economics, Management and Marketing within the Faculty of Economics two departments were founded: The graduating Department of Economics, Management and Marketing (chair of Department is the Professor, Candidate of Economics, corresponding member of Petrovskaya Academy of Arts and Sciences (St. Petersburg) N.G. Revenko.

The fundamental Department of Economics and Industrial Engineering (chair of the Department is the Associate Professor, Candidate of Economics, N.A. Caravan).

In 2009 according to the order № 56 “About making amendments to the Statute DSTU” the Department of Economics, Management and Marketing was renamed into the Department of Management, Marketing and Economics. Since 2011 it was renamed into the Department of Business Management and Administration.

In 1994 in DSTU the significant event took place (Since 1994 – Dniprodzerzhynsk State Technical University). The Faculty of Economics was founded.

1994 – 2004 – the first dean of the Faculty of Economics is Associate Professor, Candidate of Economics, S.S. Granovsky;

2005 – 2006 – the dean of the faculty is M.S. Konoh, Professor, Doctor of Philology;

2006 – 2011 – dean of the faculty is Associate Professor, Candidate of Physics and Mathematics, S.G. Dronov;

Since June 20, 2011 – the Associate Professor, Candidate of Economics, N.A. Caravan.

The same year, in 1995, another fundamental Department was established. This department maintains the educational process on the Faculty of Economics. This is the Department of Economic and Mathematical Programming. The Chair of the Department has the Associate Professor , the Candidate of Physics and Mathematics, I.K. Karimov. Since 2001 the name of the department was changed into the Department of Information Technologies and Mathematical Methods in Economics. The Department of Informatics and Computer Science was founded in early 2009 by the unification of two related departments: the Department of Information Technologies and Mathematical Methods in Economics and The Department of Informatics. That’s why the history of the department of Informatics and Computer Science is actually the history of these departments that existed independently.

In 1996 the Department of Political Economy, Finances and Credit (since 2003 the Chair of the department is N. F. Efremova, the Associate Professor, Candidate of Economics) was renamed into the Department of Finances and there was founded a separate section of Political Economy. The Chair of this section was the Associate Professor, Candidate of Economics, N.I. Malyar. In June 9, 2003 in order to improve the fundamental professional Training the Department of Finances was reorganized having founded on its basis two departments on the Faculty of Economics:

  1. Graduating Department of Finances, since March, 2011 it’s the Department of Finances and Credit; the Chair of the Department is the Associate professor, Candidate of Economics, N. F. Efremova;
  2. Fundamental Department of Economics, the Chair is the Associate professor, Candidate of Economics, N.I. Malyar.

On October 1, 2012, in connection with the decrease in the number of students, the Department of Economic Theory merges with the Department of Economics and Organization of Production.

From 1994 to 2013, the composition and name of the faculty changed, based on the needs of the university: in September 2010, in connection with the reduction of the contingent of students, the Faculty of Economics and Management and Sociology and Philology will be reorganized into a single Faculty of Economics, Sociology and Philology.

Since November 2010, the faculty has been renamed Management, Economics, Sociology and Philology (MESF), which today consists of 5 departments, including Translation Department and Department of Sociology.

The Translation Department of DSTU was established in 2004. Z. Yu. Voronova, the Candidate of Philology, the Associate Professor, has been the Chair of the Department since 2008 and till now. The Department provides teaching of professional disciplines for philological specialties, including Practical English Course, Business English, Theoretical Grammar, Theory of Translation, History of English language, Practical French Course, etc. Lecturers of the Department also work in non-linguistic specialties and teach such disciplines: English for special purposes, Business Foreign Language, Foreign Language (for undergraduates). The professional level of teaching courses of English and French philology is improved due to high-quality methodological support, the introduction of modern teaching methods, computerization of the learning process, the development of distance courses.
